Marcia "The Tablehopper" Gagliardi: This is How We Roll in the Press Room
Actually, the caviar is for the award winners coming off the stage, but hey, hungry journalists need bites too.
JBF Awards 2010 America's Classics Awards: Calumet Fisheries in Chicago, IL
The James Beard Foundation America's Classics Awards recognize restaurants with timeless appeal, beloved in their regions for quality food that reflects the character of their community. Calumet Fisheries, a stand-alone hutch located on the Calumet River in Chicago, has been frying and smoking seafood since 1948. Its smoked salmon, shrimp, chubs and trout have been drawing crowds since it opened 62 years ago.Carol Blymire: Chef Love
There is so much chef love backstage and in the press room. Great to see the collegiality, handshakes, and hugs. It's a fun brotherhood to watch. Wonder where all the women chefs are....?Carol Blymire: Tim Hollingsworth
Rising Star Award winner Tim Hollingsworth is backstage beaming, as well he should be. It was fun to watch him come offstage and shake hands with chef Keller, toasting each other. Tim's been in New York since Saturday, doing some work with the Bocuse D'or team. He is 30 and has been cooking since he was 18. I love this guy.Apron Anxiety: D.C. Gets Snubbed
Best chef in my neck of the woods is next....D.C. Damn, Jeff Michaud the one guy with a resto in Philly won. Oh well. I was hoping for a Voltaggio moment but I guess he's famous enough for now. This goes along with my theory, no good food in D.C.! Besides the obvious ;)Awards Watch: Best Chefs in America
Best Chef: Great Lakes: Koren Grieveson, Avec, Chicago Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic: Jeff Michaud, Osteria, Philadelphia Best Chef: Midwest: Alexander Roberts, Restaurant Alma, Minneapolis Best Chef: New York City, Daniel Humm, Eleven Madison Park And another America’s Classics Award was announced: Mary & Tito’s Cafe, Albuquerque, NMApron Anxiety: Bernie Sun
Bernie Sun is accepting his award....adorable, self-deprecating, and, of course, drinking wine. He said, "Oh my god, I can't feel my feet!" Very charming. Speech-wise, he is the Sandra Bullock of the night.Shut Up, Foodies: Enough Food to Fill a Purse
