2014 James Beard Awards Call for Entries

 

JBF is now accepting entries for the 2014 James Beard Awards!

 

Entries for our Book; Broadcast and New Media; Journalism; and Restaurant Design categories can be submitted here. Entries for Restaurant and Chef awards consideration have a separate portal, which is here. Please note that you may submit up to two entries per subcategory of the Restaurant and Chef awards.

 

Submission deadlines are as follows:

 

Book awards: December 17, 2013

Restaurant and Chef awards: December 31, 2013

Broadcast and New Media awards and Journalism awards: January 9, 2014

Restaurant Design awards: January 20, 2014

James Beard Foundation’s Taste America® Boston

The James Beard Foundation's Taste America® Boston

 

We're approaching the final weekend of James Beard Foundation’s Taste America®! Here's a preview of what we'll be up to in Boston, one of the tour's last stops.

 

On Friday, October 18, we're kicking off the festivities at the Boston Center for the Arts with "The Chefs Table", a multi-course meal that showcases Boston's top culinary talent, who will be joined by special guest and Taste America All-Star Michael Voltaggio.

 

On Saturday, we'll be at the Copley Place location of Sur La Table for a day of free cooking demos and local product tastings. Rebroadcast of "Top Women in Food" Panel and Live Chat

 

If you attended this year's National Restaurant Association Show, you may have caught a panel called "Secrets of Success From Top Women in Food", featuring restaurateur Rohini Dey, chef Mary Sue Milken, chef Lorena Garcia, and our very own Susan Ungaro. If not, you can catch a BrainFeed-hosted rebroadcast of the panel next Wednesday, October 16, as well as an accompanying live chat with all of the panelists. Tune in to hear these professionals' personal success stories, ideas for creating and advancing female leaders in the food world, and even some cooking tips. In addition to San Francisco, our third weekend of James Beard Foundation's Taste America® made a stop in the great city of Philadelphia. On Friday we enjoyed a spectacular meal prepared by local James Beard Award winners and other top chefs from the City of Brotherly Love. The next day we headed to Sur La Table to watch cooking demonstrations by Taste America All-Star Carla and the team behind Philadelphia's acclaimed vegan restaurant, Vedge. James Beard Foundation's Taste America® San Francisco

 

The third weekend of James Beard Foundation's Taste America® is a wrap! Last Friday our team headed to San Francisco, where we enjoyed a spectacular meal prepared by local James Beard Award winners and other top chefs from the Bay Area. On Saturday we went to Sur La Table to watch cooking demonstrations by Taste America All-Star Wylie Dufresne and JBF board chair and seasoned pastry chef Emily Luchetti.
