America Cooks with Chefs: Episode One

 

We're thrilled to announce that America Cooks, a cooking competition conceived in a partnership with the Clinton Foundation, has reached a milestone this week: the first episode of the seven-part video series is here! Each episode will follow one contestant as they go behind the scenes at a James Beard Award—winning chef’s restaurant to learn tips, tricks, and advice for cooking more nutritious meals.

 

Our first episode features Victoria Phillips, a working mother of two, who wants to cut back on high-calorie convenience meals that she and her husband often feel forced to prepare for their family because of time constraints. America Cooks with Chefs Announces Healthy Cooking Competition Contestants

 

American Cooks with Chefs, the healthy cooking initiative launched by the Clinton Foundation in partnership with JBF, has revealed the six contestants who will pair up with James Beard Award–winning chefs to create the ultimate healthy and delicious dish.

 

The contestants will meet their chef collaborators at Kitchen Camps, where they’ll “make-under” their favorite decadent dish into a nutritious meal. The ultimate test comes at the Clinton Health Matters Conference in January 2015, where the contestants will compete in a Live Cooking Challenge

 

Here are the contestants and their JBF Award-winning chef mentors:

  • Jonathan Saturay (NYC) will be paired with chef Maria Hines (Seattle)
  • Vinita Lark Williams (Los Angeles) will be paired with chef Mary Sue Milliken (Los Angeles)
  • Kathy Partak (Auburn, California) will be paired with chef Naomi Pomeroy (Portland, Oregon)
  • Jordan Kennedy (Alexandria, VA)

James Beard Foundation's Taste America® Preview: San Francisco

 

We’re down to the final stops of our national epicurean tour, James Beard Foundation’s Taste America®. This weekend we visit San Francisco for two days of star-studded events featuring Taste America All-Star and James Beard Award winner Paul Qui and local star and James Beard Award winner Michael Mina. This weekend is packed with food-filled exclusive events featuring Taste America All-Star Ludo Lefebvre and local star and James Beard Award winner Jamie Bissonnette. Friday night gets things started with a tasting reception from some of Boston’s finest, followed by a special collaborative dinner cooked up by Lefebvre and Bissonnette.
