James Beard Foundation's Taste America®

Now in full swing, James Beard Foundation’s Taste America® continues its cross-country tour this coming weekend. Here's a preview of what’s happening in Washington, D.C., one of the two cities that are on deck.

On Friday, September 27, Taste America All-Star and JBF Award winner Sean Brock is joining some of the capital’s best chefs for a fabulous night of food at the Italian Embassy. This very special evening will include live and silent auctions and will honor Ambassador Capricia Penavic Marshall, former United States Chief of Protocol, for her leadership of the Culinary Diplomacy Program. Veteran political strategist, author, educator, and syndicated newspaper columnist Donna Brazile will emcee the festivities.

On Saturday, join us at Alexandria, Virginia's King Street location of Sur La Table for a day of free cooking demos and tastings. Chef Brock will start the day with a demonstration in Sur La Table’s demo kitchen, followed by another demo with Scott Drewno of D.C.'s the Source.

The James Beard Foundation is proud to donate a portion of D.C. proceeds to FreshFarm Markets, a charity that strives to improve the local and sustainable food movement in the Chesapeake Bay region and runs several farmers’ markets throughout the area.

Click here to reserve tickets for Friday night’s event. Saturday’s events at Sur La Table are free, but space is limited.

Stay tuned for a preview of this weekend's Taste America events in Las Vegas!
