On the Menu: January 30 through February 5
Here’s what’s happening at the Beard House and around the country next week:
Sunday, January 30, 12:00 P.M.
Winter Harvest Brunch
A standard-bearer for elevated comfort food, Buttermilk Channel has earned raves from critics and a local following devoted to the restaurant’s seasonal home-style cooking. Come see what all the fuss is about when chef Ryan Angulo brings his wildly popular brunch to the Beard House.
Sunday, January 30, 12:00 P.M.
Friends of James Beard Benefit: Tustin, CA
Longtime Beard Foundation supporter Zov Karamardian will be joined by Food Network stars Michael Symon and Anne Burrell for this fantastic weekend benefit, which includes an extravagant dinner and exciting cooking demonstrations.
Tuesday, February 1, 7:00 P.M.
Dueling Dantes
A pair of Dantes will be joining forces at the Beard House to stage a meal as epic as The Divine Comedy itself. Boccuzzi, a two-time JBF Award nominee and alum of Aureole, and the critically acclaimed de Magistris have designed an innovative menu that blends their signature modern American and Italian cuisines.
Wednesday, February 2, 7:00 P.M.
Colicchio Protégé
Sisha Ortúzar has had several roles throughout Tom Colicchio’s empire: as a sous-chef at Gramercy Tavern, a member of Craftsteak Las Vegas’s opening team, and the brains behind the creative sandwiches at ’wichcraft. Now the chef and partner at the recently opened Riverpark, Ortúzar shines with his global interpretations of market-based cuisine.
Thursday, February 3, 7:00 P.M.
Asian Street Food Extravaganza
Brad Farmerie first wowed us with his innovative antipodal cuisine at Public; today he and his co-chefs are doing the same at Double Crown, where they find inspiration in the foods of the Far East. Join this talented team to celebrate the Chinese New Year with a feast of reimagined and refined Asian street food.
Friday, February 4, 7:00 P.M.
Berkshire-Raised Whole Hog
Enjoy a true snout-to-tail experience at the Beard House created by a group of devoted farm-to-table chefs who all hail from the Berkshire region. These local food visionaries are going hog wild in their preparation of an entire Berkshire pig, raised specifically for this porcine dinner.
Saturday, February 5, 7:00 P.M.
Chicago Sensation
Dirk Flanigan proves his skill and versatility on a daily basis as the executive chef of two very distinct but equally superlative Chicago eateries. Flanigan has earned raves for his globally influenced gastropub fare at the Gage and three stars from the Chicago Tribune for his exquisite, sophisticated cuisine at newcomer Henri.
