East Village Social One of NYC’s most historic and colorful neighborhoods, the East Village has experienced a culinary renaissance over the past few years with groundbreaking new restaurants popping up amid the skate stores and head shops. Guests at this walk-around tasting and cocktail party will enjoy a tantalizing tour of the East Village’s best eats. Wednesday, July 13, 12:00 P.M. Beard on Books: Harvest to Heat by Darryl Estrine and Kelly Kochendorfer Harvest to Heat pays homage to the farmers and artisans who supply America's restaurants with top-notch products. Wednesday, July 13, 7:00 P.M. Land Meets Sea After less than a year at the helm of RIA at the Elysian Hotel, wunderkind chef Daniel Grant earned the restaurant a coveted two-star rating from the 2011 Michelin Guide. Grant will mark his Beard House debut with an elegant, nuanced menu that showcases sustainably sourced seafood and meats. Thursday, July 14, 7:00 P.M. Bastille Day: La Fête Nationale Vive la France! Celebrate Bastille Day at the Beard House with this group of talented chefs—all of whom are members of the esteemed Maîtres Cuisiniers de France—over a menu of meticulously prepared, modern interpretations of classic French dishes paired with beautiful French wines, bien sûr. Friday, July 15, 7:00 P.M. Peace, Love, and Barbecue One of the most celebrated pitmasters in the country, Mike Mills owns seven nationally acclaimed barbecue joints and is known to ’cue aficionados simply as The Legend. His book, Peace, Love, and Barbecue, was nominated for a 2006 Beard Award; he wrote it with his daughter, Amy Mills Tunnicliffe, who will be joining him for this BBQ bonanza.
