At MiLa, named for their home states of Mississippi and Louisiana, co-chefs Allison Vines-Rushing and Slade Rushing serve their cultivated Southern fare to captivated New Orleans diners. The celebrated husband-and-wife team has earned nonstop raves from critics like Brett Anderson of the Times-Picayune, who praised the chefs’ “artful and ingredient-driven” cuisine.
Tuesday, June, 8, 7:00 P.M.
Sustainable Seafood Feast
Sam Talbot charmed viewers on Top Chef, and he plans to do the same at his upcoming restaurant at the Mondrian Soho Hotel, where he will unveil an eclectic menu showcasing sustainable seafood. Join us for a special preview of what is sure to be one of the hottest tables in town.
Wednesday, June 9, 12:00 P.M.
Beard on Books
Cooking over open flame may be the oldest technique known to man, but the authoritative Mastering the Grill: The Owner's Manual for Outdoor Cooking is a valuable resource for even the most seasoned grill master. Prolific cookbook authors and food writers Andrew Schloss and David Joachim take grilling seriously, and it shows in this encyclopedic title: topics like equipment, fire, and ingredients are discussed in detail, while instructions on marinades and rubs will take your grilling from a hard science to a finger-licking art form. Schloss and Joachim also include hundreds of recipes to guarantee a successful summer shindig, as well as a permanent spot for Mastering the Grill on your bookshelf.
Wednesday, June 9, 7:00 P.M.
Sensational Spring Vegan
Through the inventive cuisine of Horizons in Philadelphia, Richard Landau and Kate Jacoby transform meat lovers into vegan believers. The talented duo returns to the Beard House after an awe-inspiring performance in November to thrill more fans with their take on summer’s bounty.
Thursday, June 10, 7:00 P.M.
Miami Sizzle
Experience a taste of Miami sizzle when one of the city’s most talked about chefs joins us at the Beard House. As executive chef of the historic and ultraposh Fontainebleau Miami Beach, Sean T. O’Connell oversees the resort’s acclaimed and stylish eateries.
Friday, June 11, 12:00 P.M.
Global Table Luncheon
It takes the cooking of an incredibly talented chef to point many New Yorkers due north to the Upper West Side. But Compass executive chef Milton Enriquez, who has helmed the restaurant since 2007, has done just that, wooing diners from all over the city with his skillful, globally inspired menu.
