On the Menu: October 4 to October 10
Here’s what happening at the Beard House next week:
Tuesday, October 6, 7:00 P.M.
Languedoc Wine Lovers’ Dinner
Once best known for producing the table wines that kept French soldiers sated during both world wars, the Languedoc region now yields some of the most exciting wines made today. Sample them alongside an equally intriguing menu prepared by Country alum Doug Psaltis and Languedoc native Cedric Tovar.
Wednesday, October 7, 7:00 P.M.
Alaskan Luxury Retreat
Kirsten Dixon’s trio of luxurious Alaskan resorts are some of the most remote in the world, but the Le Cordon Bleu Paris–trained chef’s cuisine has put them on the map. For this dinner, she and her daughter, pastry chef Mandy Dixon, have created a menu that highlights the best of the region’s unique ingredients.
Thursday, October 8, 7:00 P.M.
Dinner with Alain Ducasse
Join one of the world’s most celebrated chefs as he cooks in the Beard House kitchen for the very first time. At this one-of-a-kind dinner, you’ll have a front-row seat as Ducasse and the chefs of his NYC restaurants, Joel Dennis and Pierre Schaedelin, prepare the ultimate dégustation of la grande cuisine française.
Friday, October 9, 7:00 P.M.
The Modern’s Alsatian Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest is infectious. The beer is flowing, plates of hearty fare are in generous supply, and fun is in the air. The festival’s version of the celebration, featuring a multi-course menu prepared by 2009 JBF Award winner Gabriel Kreuther and paired with a selection of artisanal brews, will be a bit more refined, but no less jovial.
Saturday, October 10, 7:00 P.M.
Food Meets Fashion
For one night only, acclaimed designer Zac Posen’s creations will be on the menu—not the runway. Join this fashion virtuoso and accomplished cook in the Beard House kitchen when he teams up with Emmy Award–winning Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis and JBF Award–winning chef Marcus Samuelsson to create a fabulous, once-in-a-lifetime feast.
