Green Grits [SE] In this recipe from Andrew Carmellini’s cookbook, American Flavor, a Southern classic gets spicy in the company of cilantro, chilies, and onions. Lamingtons [David Lebovitz] After a recent trip to Australia, David Lebovitz offers a recipe for Lamingtons, a tradition Australian dessert of moist sponge cake coated in chocolate icing and dusted with coconut. Honey–Almond Cantuccini [Culinate] Adopted from Maria Speck’s Ancient Grains for Modern Meals, these small biscotti, or cantuccini, are made with almond meal for extra flavor and crunch. Spinach–Truffle Mac [LAT] In this decadent take on a traditional comfort food, spinach and truffle oil are added to mac and cheese for a savory finish. Cider Vinegar–Braised Greens [Tasting Table] By braising collards in cider vinegar instead of water or stock, the greens are infused with tangy flavor. Noodles with Fried Scallions [Saveur] Get out of the Thanksgiving leftover rut and try your hand at some Taiwanese food. Salmon Steaks with Curried Fennel–Wine Sauce [F&W] Enjoy simply roasted salmon topped with curry-spiked sautéed fennel.
