Sweepstakes: Help Us Reach 100K Twitter Followers and Enter to Win a Set of James Beard Award–Winning Cookbooks!
When we jumped headfirst into the social media universe a few years ago, we had no idea our online presence would grow at such a fast clip. In addition to our active Twitter feed, we now have a robust Facebook page, and we’re sharing the dishes we love on Foodspotting. But we’re hungry for more! We’ve set our sights on a particularly exciting social media milestone: 100,000 Twitter followers—and we need a little help from you to get us there. To sweeten the pot—and to thank you for your support—we’re going to give away five fantastic 2011 JBF Award–winning cookbooks! Here’s how you can enter the sweepstakes:
1. Make sure you’re following us, @beardfoundation, on Twitter if you’re not already.
2. Tweet the following message from your Twitter account: Help JBF Reach 100K Followers and Enter to Win 5 JBF Award-Winning Cookbooks! http://is.gd/aEvzZR #jbfcookbooks (Make sure to include the hashtag!)
-or-
Simply retweet the above message after someone else on Twitter tweets it.
Once we reach 100,000 followers, we will randomly select a follower who (re)tweeted the above message. The winner will receive a set of these 2011 JBF Award–winning cookbooks:
The Essential New York Times Cookbook: Classic Recipes for a New Century by Amanda Hesser
Meat: A Kitchen Education by James Peterson
Noma: Time and Place in Nordic Cuisine by René Redzepi
Salted: A Manifesto on the World’s Most Essential Mineral, with Recipes by Mark Bitterman
Stir-Frying to the Sky’s Edge: The Ultimate Guide to Mastery, with Authentic Recipes and Stories by Grace Young.
We will select and contact the winner via direct message on Twitter on Monday, August 22, 2011. Good luck!
Official rules:
No purchase necessary. Purchase will not improve chances of winning. Starting at 10:00 A.M EST on August 16, 2011, the James Beard Foundation will invite Twitter accounts that follow the official James Beard Foundation Twitter account (http://twitter.com/beardfoundation) to “tweet” the following message: Help JBF Reach 100K Followers and Enter to Win 5 JBF Award-Winning Cookbooks! blog.jamesbeard.org/books #jbfcookbooks. Twitter users may enter by “tweeting” or “retweeting” the exact message via Twitter. Tweets submitted after 12:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 20, 2011, will not be eligible.
Only residents who are 21 and older and residing in the 50 United States or the District of Columbia are eligible to enter. Void where prohibited by law.
The winner of the sweepstakes will be chosen at random from Twitter accounts that “follow” the James Beard Foundation’s official Twitter account and that “tweet” or “retweet” the message as instructed above. The winner will be announced on the James Beard Foundation’s official blog, Delights & Prejudices, approximately on or after August 22, 2011.
The James Beard Foundation is not responsible for and will not consider incomplete or incorrect entries, or entries submitted but not received by the James Beard Foundation for any reason, as potential sweepstakes winners. The winner of this sweepstakes will be notified via direct message on Twitter. The person replying to this direct message will be considered the winner.
The James Beard Foundation will mail the sweepstakes prize to the address supplied by the recipient of the direct message on Twitter.
Claiming of prizes requires a direct message sent to the James Beard Foundation’s official Twitter account within 14 days of being notified, and must be received from the Twitter account to which the winner-notification message was sent. Failure to respond shall mean that the winner forfeits the prize. The James Beard Foundation will randomly select a new winner if the original winner fails to respond. Only one entry per Twitter account will be considered for sweepstakes entry.
The prizewinner must supply the James Beard Foundation with his/her legal name, mailing address, birth date, and daytime telephone number in order to claim the prize.
The winner may not request substitutions of prize winnings. The winner is solely responsible for any and all taxes and/or fees, and all such additional costs that may be incurred.
Neither the James Beard Foundation, the James Beard Foundation sponsors, nor employees of the James Beard Foundation or sponsors may be held liable for any warranty, costs, damage, injury, or any other claims incurred as a result of usage of any winners of a prize once winner has taken possession of the product.
The James Beard Foundation is not liable for any loss arising out of or in connection with or resulting from any sweepstakes or contest promoted by the James Beard Foundation. Management, employees and families of the James Beard Foundation are prohibited from winning any prizes awarded by the James Beard Foundation.
