Throwback Thursday: All-Star Chefs Inspire through JBF Taste America



The James Beard Foundation’s annual Taste America tour assembles an all-star panel of celebrity chefs to travel cross-country for unique dining events, cooking demonstrations, and artisanal tastings. This week’s Throwback Thursday highlights a video from JBF Taste America 2013, where some of the nation’s top toques collaborated on exclusive, one-night-only tasting menus, bringing their passions and talents to eager epicureans across the country. This year’s celebration will take place September 18 through November 7 with an inspiring all-star roster of gifted chefs, including JBF Award winners Art Smith in Charleston, April Bloomfield in New Orleans, Tony Mantuano in San Francisco, Hugh Acheson in Los Angeles, and more. Alton Brown will host the James Beard Awards in Chicago


The 2015 James Beard Awards, an event that already guarantees plenty of culinary star power, just got more exciting. We're thrilled to announce that Food Network personality Alton Brown will host this spring's James Beard Awards ceremony in Chicago, taking place at Lyric Opera of Chicago on Monday, May 4. The former star of the Peabody Award–winning Good Eats, Brown has lent his talents to a number of other Food Network shows, including Iron Chef America, Feasting on Asphalt, Feasting on Waves, The Next Iron Chef, The Next Food Network Star, and Cutthroat Kitchen.

In addition to San Francisco, our third weekend of James Beard Foundation's Taste America® made a stop in the great city of Philadelphia. On Friday we enjoyed a spectacular meal prepared by local James Beard Award winners and other top chefs from the City of Brotherly Love. The next day we headed to Sur La Table to watch cooking demonstrations by Taste America All-Star Carla and the team behind Philadelphia's acclaimed vegan restaurant, Vedge. Now in its third week, James Beard Foundation’s Taste America® will be continuing its cross-country tour this Friday. Here's a preview of what’s on deck Philadelphia, one of our two upcoming stops.


On Friday, October 4, Taste America All-Star Carla Hall and some of the Philadelphia area's best chefs, including several James Beard Award winners, will prepare a private VIP multicourse dinner at Pêche. The venue will then open its doors to the public for a tasting reception featuring more City of Brotherly Love talent, including JBF Award winner Michael Solomonov, Mitch Prensky, Joe Cicala, and more.
