Foodspotting: Tattoo Stories
Gabrielle Hamilton, Prune, winner of the Best Chef of NYC, when asked about her tattoos, shared a couple intimate stories with us. These are the names of her two boys, Marco and Leone, and another on her left bicep of Temple Bar years ago, thinking the bar won't be around anymore. But! It still is :) ~Fiona
Foodspotting: Our hometown winner!
Best Chef: Pacific Michael Tusk of Quince in San Francisco told us he was elated that his win is happening this year when his family has gone through some hardships. Still have not had the fortune of dining at the renowned Quince, but hoping it happens very soon. ~Fiona
Foodspotting: Live Stream in the Works
A quick snapshot of the JBF Awards live stream team hard at work interviewing folks back stage. Here, with Michael Solomonov of Zahav in Philadelphia, winner of Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic, in the Mercedes-Benz Victory Lane lounge. - Fiona
Foodspotting: Backstage with Rising Star Chef Gabriel's Purple Sneaks
Backstage celebrating with the Award winners *right* when they get off the stage at the the Mercedes-Benz Victory Lane. Exciting vibe in here. First up to win was Gabriel Rucker of Le Pigeon, winner of the Rising Star Chef of the Year Award. Award presenter Marcus Samuelsson told us this is the hardest category to win, as you're up against the whole country. Funny story: Gabriel nervously packed two left black shoes, and had to wear these purple sneakers with his black tie gear. Adorable!
Foodspotting: Celebspotting Edition
Just spotted our friend Marcus Samuelsson looking dapper with his wife Maya Haile and Bravo's Andy Cohen. Also making their way to the stage was Chef Bobby Flay and JBF Awards host Ming Tsai. Culinary celebs abound and the bells just begin to ring. It's show time. --Amy CaoFoodspotting: Reporting for Duty
Fiona from the Foodspotting arm of the JBF Awards live-blogging Team reporting in! Got my all-acccess pass pretty smoothly, and somehow already got myself lost. On my behind-the-scenes adventure, though, I captured a great shot from the stage. This shows you a great glimpse of what the Award winners will see during their crowning moment.
JBF Joins Foodspotting
Maybe you've noticed, but we've got a new way of sharing all the great food we eat when we're out and about. JBF is on Foodspotting. This unique website and mobile app allows users to find, share, and recommend amazing food to their friends and followers by taking photos of dishes you love. Not only are we out there spotting under the James Beard Foundation handle, we've collaborated with some of our past JBF Award–winning chefs to create guides featuring the food at their own restaurants.
Our Regional Best Chef winners told us, in their own words, what their favorites dishes are and which foods best
