Awards Watch: Nominations Revealed Today!

 

It's a big day for JBF! In addition to debuting our new look here at jamesbeard.org, we're also revealing nominations for the 2012 James Beard Awards. That means that there are only a few hours left before you find out who will be getting nods for our various Restaurant and Chef; Book; Broadcast Media; Journalism; and Restaurant Design and Graphics awards. If you need a refresher on who made our long list of semifinalists, you can see the full list here.

 

We have a tradition of announcing the nominations in a different major city every year. This year JBF's top brass has assembled in Las Vegas, where they will begin announcing the nominations at the Venetian/the Palazzo at 11:00 PST/2:00 EST. Awards Watch: Polls Open at Noon!

James Beard Awards medallion The excitement of JBF Awards season is so close we can almost taste it. Beginning at noon today, you can submit chefs, cookbooks, and more for nominee consideration on the JBF Awards section of our website. (And in case you haven't heard, we've made serious changes to our Journalism Awards: categories are now defined by content, rather than medium. You can learn more about this retooling in the JBF press room.) So what are you waiting for? Start voting!

Awards Watch: Calling All Opinionated Foodies

Voting for James Beard Award nominees begins on October 15, 2010. It seems our little item about the location of the 2011 Beard Award nominees announcement set off a flurry of questions about online voting and submissions. Well, we have one answer: nominations voting and entry forms will be available on October 15 at jamesbeard.org/awards. That gives you a few weeks to think long and hard about who deserves a nomination for cooking, journalism, food media, and restaurant design.

It's that time again: we're accepting suggestions for 2010 JBF Award nominees!

Are you a food blogger, cookbook author, or restaurant designer? Stop by our entry forms and online voting page and submit your work for consideration for our book, journalism, broadcast media, and design awards.

Is there a chef whose cooking really knocked your socks off this year? You'll also find a link to an online voting form for restaurant and chef awards on the same page (feel free to offer your suggestions for nominees for every cooking prize we bestow, or just keep it to one).
