Awards Watch: Calling All Opinionated Foodies

Voting for James Beard Award nominees begins on October 15, 2010. It seems our little item about the location of the 2011 Beard Award nominees announcement set off a flurry of questions about online voting and submissions. Well, we have one answer: nominations voting and entry forms will be available on October 15 at jamesbeard.org/awards. That gives you a few weeks to think long and hard about who deserves a nomination for cooking, journalism, food media, and restaurant design.

Awards Watch: Readers' Choice, Website

Citizens of the blogging community sure are opinionated! The response to our readers' choice poll on who deserves the medal for best food blog has been so huge that we've decided to keep the voting open a little while longer. At this moment, Hunter Angler Gardener Cook holds the lead with about 52 percent of the votes (and many cheering fans in the comments section), but Serious Eats still poses a threat in a not-too-far second place. Awards Watch: Readers' Choice

When the winners of our Media Awards are announced on May 2, it will reflect the backroom deliberations of our panel of judges, a seasoned but select group of media veterans. With all due respect to those bigwigs, we’re curious about who you think deserves to get the glory. So here at Delights & Prejudices we’re creating our own little version of the People’s Choice Awards, in which our readers, the Main Street consumers of food and food news, will vote for their favorite food media among our Awards nominees. We’ll provide links to the content and set up a state-of-the-art poll; all you have to do is read and vote.
