The James Beard Foundation's Taste America Local Dish Challenge

If you've been following JBF happenings lately, you probably know about the Taste America Local Dish Challenge. If you need a refresher, it works like this: order a "Taste America Local Dish" at a participating restaurant, snap it on your phone and upload it to Instagram, tagging your image with #JBFTasteAmerica and the suggested hashtag for your city. After the contest ends on October 31, the city with the most uploads will receive $10,000 or 10 percent of funds raised nationally, whichever amount is higher, in the form of a donation to a local food charity.

It's only been two weeks since we launched the competition, but we're already seeing an impressive number of submissions. Above is a snapshot of where things stand. As you can see, Chicago has emerged with a strong lead, but there's still plenty of time left, so keep those uploads coming! We'll be posting updated standings every Monday until the fundraiser ends.
