While acclaimed chef Seamus Mullen is known for his mouthwatering, modern Spanish fare at New York City’s chic Tertulia, his health struggles are less public. After receiving a rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis five years ago, Mullen found that cooking with a core group of 18 nutritious and restorative ingredients, or “hero foods,” helped manage his symptoms and improve his lifestyle. His cookbook, Hero Food, offers a thoughtful and delicious approach to wellness that’s inflected with his signature style gleaned from years spent cooking in Spain.
