To celebrate our 30th anniversary, we’re sharing 30 Years in 30 Days, an exclusive 30-episode digital series featuring noteworthy chefs and culinary icons who will help us tell the story of the Foundation’s history in the 30 days leading up to an exciting television premiere: 30 Years: A Celebration of the James Beard Foundation, airing Sunday, November 26, at 4:00 P.M. (ET) on ABC. The exciting television special will feature appearances by industry icons Daniel Boulud, Tom Colicchio, Traci des Jardins, Carla Hall, Emeril Lagasse, Jacques Pepin, Gail Simmons, Martha Stewart, Ming Tsai, and Marcus Samuelsson, who will help us tell the story of our history and evolution.

On our 12th installment of 30 Years in 30 Days, we’ve got JBF National Scholar Matthew Francis Johnson, who describes how the James Beard Foundation helped bring his culinary career into focus as he pursued a future-focused path as a student at the Culinary Institute of America and now at Buzzfeed.

Watch the video above, and be sure to stay tuned as we continue to share these poignant pieces over the next month.
