Beard House dining room Here’s what’s happening at the Beard House and around the country next week:

Monday, June 21, 7:00 P.M. Savoy 20th Anniversary and Reunion It’s hard to believe it was 20 years ago that Peter Hoffman opened Savoy in the heart of NYC’s Soho. At the time, the chef’s passion for seasonal, local cuisine was seen as eccentric; in hindsight it’s clear that Hoffman helped spark a gastronomic movement that has fundamentally changed the way America cooks. Celebrate this anniversary with a stellar cast of chefs and alumni. Tuesday, June 22, 6:30 P.M. Greens: Bowling Night The James Beard Foundation Greens are hitting the lanes. Join us for a night of bowling, good food, and fun times at Brooklyn Bowl, the hot new bowling alley and restaurant housed in a renovated Williamsburg iron foundry. It’s the city’s first LEED-certified green bowl-o-drome. 
To keep our energy up while we aim for a three hundred game, there’ll be a buffet of bowling-friendly classics updated by the culinary team at Blue Ribbon Brasserie and plenty of beer and wine. Tuesday, June 22, 7:00 P.M. 
 Sunshine State Celebration From time-honored classics like Antonio’s La Fiamma to buzzworthy newcomers like the Ravenous Pig, the Orlando-area food scene has quietly become one of the region’s most exciting. Experience the best the Sunshine State has to offer with a menu that highlights its unique ingredients. Wednesday, June 23, 7:00 P.M. Catalan Food and Wine Barcelona, the capital of Spain’s Catalonia region, is well known for its vibrant markets and rich food culture. At Mercat, which means “market” in Catalan, and sister restaurant Mercat Negre, chefs Jalinson Rodriguez and Oriol Sala Colomer, along with wine director Carl Wisegart, capture this dynamic quality in their bold, regional Spanish cuisine. Thursday, June 24, 7:00 P.M. Rare Wine Dinner The Wine Spectator Grand Award–winning cellar at the opulent Restaurant Latour houses more than 70,000 bottles, many of which bear a perfect 100 score from Robert Parker. For this exceptional Beard House dinner, executive chef Michael Weisshaupt’s elegant cuisine will be complemented by Robby Younes’s rare wines. Friday, June 25, 7:00 P.M. Celebrating Summer Steak After setting up shop in Miami Beach—an area with no shortage of first-rate steaks—Peter Vauthy quickly proved to be a cut above the rest. With its excellent menu, bold design, and discerning clientele, Red the Steakhouse is the place to see, be seen, and be well fed. Friday, June 25, 7:00 P.M. The San Francisco Pride Soirée Please join James Beard Foundation Award–winning chefs, along with JBF America’s Classic winner Yank Sing Restaurant and Taste Catering executive pastry chef Yigit Pura, to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of San Francisco Pride at the new SOMA gallery 12 Gallagher Lane. Proceeds from the evening will benefit amfAR and the James Beard Foundation. Saturday, June 26, 5:00 P.M. The Second Annual Gay Soirée Each June, revelers across the country and the world celebrate Gay Pride with parades, pageantry, and parties. The Beard House is no exception: join us as we toast NYC’s gay community at a delicious walk-around tasting and cocktail party prepared by a group of some of the city’s finest chefs and mixologists.
