Here’s what’s happening at the Beard House and around the country next week: Monday, May 17, 7:00 P.M. Seasonal French When CIA alum Humberto Campos Jr. followed his dream of opening his own restaurant, his labor of love turned out to be one of the region’s most romantic gems. Join him for a menu of the French-inspired seasonal cooking that has earned him four stars from the Star-Ledger. Tuesday, May 18, 7:00 P.M. Relais & Châteaux Series: Four-Star Dining When 2010 JBF Award nominee Daniel Humm took over the kitchen at Eleven Madison Park in 2006, the food world sang his praises. Since then Humm has really been humming; in recent years he has earned the restaurant the prestigious Relais & Châteaux designation and a four-star review from the New York Times. Wednesday, May 19, 7:00 P.M. Farm, Ranch, and Vineyard to Table Set above Napa Valley in the Mayacamas Mountain range, the family-run Long Meadow Ranch is home to an award-winning, sustainable winery and organic farm. Overseen by Chris Hall, a second-generation vintner who produces elegant artisan wines, the ranch also features the ingredient-driven cuisine of chef Sheamus Feeley at the much-heralded Farmstead Restaurant. Thursday, May 20, 7:00 P.M. Dean James Max and Friends As creator and chef of 3030 Ocean, Dean James Max offers modern American cuisine that’s light but assertive, inflected by traditions from around the world, and always gorgeously presented. He has expanded his sphere of influence to four other destination restaurants, whose chefs are joining him at this spectacular gathering. Thursday, May 20, 7:00 P.M. Celebrity Chef Tour Host Chef Gregory Carso Celebrity Chef and Former Top Chef Contestant Radhika Desai Celebrity Chef and JBF Award Winner Marcus Samuelsson Celebrity Pastry Chef Alain Roby Celebrity Chef Tour events are dinners that benefit the James Beard Foundation, in which JBF Award winners and other celebrity chefs travel to private clubs, resorts, and other exclusive venues across America to prepare dinners and promote the culinary arts. Friday, May 21, 12:00 P.M. Springtime Luncheon The ingeniously reinterpreted Spanish tapas at Copa Wine & Tapas in Bridgehampton reflects chef Eddy Phooprasert s myriad influences: a childhood spent in Thailand, Le Cordon Bleu education, and time spent at the Wynn Las Vegas. Join us for this spring luncheon and see why his small plates and bold flavors inspire a following year-round. Friday, May 21, 7:00 P.M. Celebrating Oaxaca The Isthmus of Tehuantepec is a narrow stretch of land separating the Mexican gulf from the Pacific Ocean in the southeast of Oaxaca. The coastal area’s utterly unique cuisine has captivated chef Ivy Stark of Dos Caminos, who has designed an incredible meal to introduce us to this relatively undiscovered part of the world. Saturday, May 22, 3:00 P.M. One Helluva Tour Join the James Beard Foundation Greens on a specially designed tasting tour of Hell’s Kitchen with culinary tour experts, Rum & Blackbird. Twenty lucky Greens members will visit the hidden mom-and-pop shops of Hell's Kitchen and taste their handcrafted dishes, all while learning the culinary history of this trendy neighborhood. Our exclusive tour will end with a reception at Xie Xie where chef Angelo Sosa will create delicious, Asian-inspired snacks. There will also be plenty of beer from Stella Artois to quench our thirst. Saturday, May 22, 7:00 P.M. Regional Stars In his or her own city, each of these chefs is a true culinary star, bringing national attention to that region’s food scene.
