Australian chef Alla Wolf-Tasker

Even though our mission is celebrate America's diverse culinary heritage, we're never ones to pass on great cuisine from farther afield. To satisfy our wanderlusting appetites, the James Beard Foundation is launching the Evenings AFAR dinner series. In partnership with AFAR media, this exciting program will spotlight must-visit international destinations for food and wine, and will invite chefs from foreign lands to prepare meals at the historic James Beard House.

The series begins with a gustatory trip Down Under. Long known for its independent spirit and its marvels of the natural world, it's no surprise that Australia offers a unique cuisine that's rooted in pristine ingredients and a fierce creativity. The country's one-of-a-kind cooking will be on display at the Beard House on November 22, when Alla Wolf-Tasker of Victoria's Lake House restaurant will be on hand to present an exciting evening of Australian food and wine. Presented by Tourism Australia, chef Wolf-Tasker's menu will feature dishes that you would find at her award-winning restaurant in late autumn, when many of her favorite ingredients—like chestnuts, pheasant, and truffles—are at their peak. The food will be paired with wines from the states of Victoria and South Australia, offering a representative snapshot of Australia's thrilling wine industry.

You can view the entire mouth-watering menu here. Stay tuned for more news about international dining at the James Beard House, thanks to our partners at AFAR media.
