We've partnered with Simmer, a new app that allows you to generate step-by-step recipe videos that you can create, watch, and share from your very own kitchen. In the coming weeks and months, we'll continue sharing instructional videos that will teach you how to create tantalizing dishes from JBF Award winners, Beard House chefs, and even Beard himself, all prepared in James Beard's historic New York City kitchen.

Here at the Beard House, we're huge fans of the beloved restaurant workhorse, the Caesar salad. Yet more often than not, we find ourselves faced with a wan version of the flavor powerhouse that pales in comparison to our cravings. This twist on the celebrated classic more than satisfies our Caesar hankerings, swapping romaine for hearty, nutrient-packed kale that's joined by crispy bacon and garlic panko crumbs. More substantial than the original, this recipe reads more like an ode to Caesar himself with a double dose of garlic (added directly into the dressing as well as toasted with the panko crumbs), nutty Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, and a spicy punch of hot sauce. Watch the step-by-step recipe video below, as senior editor Elena North-Kelly demonstrates how to make a salad that's not exactly for the faint of heart.
