In May 2021, we launched the Beard House Fellows program presented by Capital One, which re-envisions the potential of this historic space into a hub of training and professional development for talented emerging chefs. Each Fellow will have a one-month residence at the Beard House where JBF will provide hard skills training along with the opportunity to develop a meal kit in collaboration with Great Performances that will be available across the country.

Our newest Fellow is Sofia Mendoza. Sofia credits her interest in food to the Mexican delicacies her mother would whip up when Sofia was growing up. A graduate of Monroe College, Sofia first worked in various award-winning restaurants in New York, before finding her true passion in hospitality. She went on to stints in human resources and guest relations at Eleven Madison Park and The Dinex Group, and most recently started a position at Union Square Hospitality Group as an HR Coordinator. But as the COVID-19 pandemic began to impact the industry, and in particular, the Latino community, Sofia began to think about how to make the Michelin experience accessible for all. She dreams of opening up a Mexican cafe where people can visit for a taste of home.

Sofia Mendoza’s Beard Box will be on sale Tuesday, August 17 at 9:00 A.M. EST through Thursday, August 19 at 11:59 P.M. ET. 
Meal Kits serve two (2) guests, and will be delivered on August 25.  The virtual event will take place on Thursday, August 26 at 6:30 P.M. ET.

+ Beard Box is available for nationwide shipping in the continental United States.

+ Please note that due to the nature of this event, we are not able to accommodate dietary restrictions at this stage. We appreciate your understanding and support of this policy.
