Cheetie Kumar first fell in love with cooking in her birthplace of India, before adopting Raleigh, North Carolina as her Southern home, and embracing the area's renowned agriculture as the basis for the multicultural menus of her restaurant, Garland. A self-taught guitar and music enthusiast, Kumar opened an adjacent music venue in order to satisfy patrons’ ears, brains, and bellies.
