Welcome to Happy Hour, your new go-to source for the best after-work drinks. On Friday afternoons during the summer, we’ll be sharing recipes for complex, satisfying cocktails you can craft at home, courtesy of our talented friends from across the beverage world. Whether you’re mixing them up for your squad before an evening on the town or throwing on some pajamas and prepping for a weekend of binge-watching, these libations are sure to be up to the task.

Let’s kick it off with this recipe for a rosé sour from James Beard Award nominee Rebekah Peppler. Peppler starts with a classic sour build of sugar and lemon juice, then adds a splash of dry rosé, some peppercorns, and an egg white. After a 10-second “dry shake” (which omits ice and helps to aerate the ingredients) she tosses in a few cubes and shakes again until it’s chilled and frothy. Served on the rocks and garnished with more pepper, it’s a refreshing, low-ABV aperitif to start your summer soirée off right. Get the recipe and make it tonight.
