To celebrate our 30th anniversary, we’re sharing 30 Years in 30 Days, an exclusive 30-episode digital series featuring noteworthy chefs and culinary icons who will help us tell the story of the Foundation’s history in the 30 days leading up to an exciting television premiere: 30 Years: A Celebration of the James Beard Foundation, airing Sunday, November 26, at 4:00 P.M. (ET) on ABC. The exciting television special will feature appearances by industry icons Daniel Boulud, Tom Colicchio, Traci des Jardins, Carla Hall, Emeril Lagasse, Jacques Pepin, Gail Simmons, Martha Stewart, Ming Tsai, and Marcus Samuelsson, who will help us tell the story of our history and evolution.

On our eighth installment of 30 Years in 30 Days, we’ve got author and television personality Gail Simmons, who was first introduced to the James Beard Foundation at Peter Kump’s New York Cooking School. Years later, Simmons shares her appreciation for all the Foundation provides, including the culinary community she says JBF has helped create.

Watch the video above, and be sure to stay tuned as we continue to share these poignant pieces over the next month.
