The James Beard Foundation is deeply saddened by the news of the tragic loss of celebrated chef Evan Treadwell. Treadwell led the culinary team of luxury Tabernash resort Devil’s Thumb Ranch, where he focused his efforts on providing diners with sustainable and locally sourced cooking.
After two lauded appearances at the Beard House in 2012 and 2013, Treadwell went on to host annual Friends of James Beard Benefit events, gathering likeminded chefs to celebrate Colorado’s bounty and the diversity of American cuisine as a whole. “Chef Evan Treadwell possessed enormous talent and a huge heart,” said Diane Harris Brown, JBF’s director of educational and community programming. “Our thoughts are with his family, and with Bob and Suzanne Fanch, the visionary owners of Devil's Thumb Ranch. Evan will be deeply missed.”
