James Beard Foundation Advocacy Training
9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
The James Beard Foundation’s Advocacy Training Workshop is an interactive, three-hour program designed to give chefs and independent restaurant leaders the skills and confidence to become effective advocates for their businesses, communities, and industry. Through practical exercises, participants will learn how to identify where policy intersects with the issues they experience every day, translate their expertise into compelling messages, communicate their stories to decision-makers, and make a clear and effective ask. Participants will practice the fundamentals of successful advocacy and leave with practical tools—and a concrete next step—for putting their voice and experience into action. No previous advocacy or policy experience is required.

Lunch 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM

Advocacy Into Action: A OneKitchen Training
1:30 – 3:30 PM
Join us for the afternoon session and learn how to turn advocacy into action in your own community. In this afternoon training, you'll learn how to put the advocacy training and tactics from JBF’s morning training into action. From 1:30 to 3:30 PM, OneKitchen takes you through applying these tactics at home in New Orleans, with the goal of making local food more accessible to everyone in your community.
Stick around afterward for a happy hour and community gathering, all welcome to stay and connect.
