Snickerdoodle Cake

“This version of snickerdoodle, which I have also heard called snipdoodle, is really a quick coffee cake and is delicious used as cake or bread for breakfast or luncheon.”


  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • Additional sugar and cinnamon for topping


Sift together the sugar, flour, baking powder, and cinnamon. Blend the eggs and milk and stir into the dry ingredients. Beat in the melted butter. Pour into a buttered 9 x 13-inch baking pan, sprinkle with granulated sugar and cinnamon. Bake at 400ºF for about 25 minutes. Serve hot or cold.
