Susan’s Magic Christmas Bar Cookies

These six-ingredient cookies are a Christmas tradition in the Ungaro household.


  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 ounces coconut flakes


Preheat the oven to 350°F (or 325°F, if you’re using a glass brownie pan). Meanwhile, in a 9” x 13” brownie pan, melt the butter over low heat.
Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs evenly across the buttered bottom of the pan, then pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the crumbs.
Top the mixture evenly with chopped walnuts, chocolate chips, and coconut flakes, pressing down gently to adhere.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until lightly browned. Allow the bar cookies to cool completely before cutting into squares or rectangles.
