Jonathan and Justin Fox may be best known for their pulled pork, jalapeño–cheddar sausage, and juicy beef brisket at their Atlanta-based Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q, but they also make some mean desserts. Take this Dr. Pepper–Oatmeal Spice Cake served at their most recent Beard House dinner. The brothers rehydrate rolled oats in cherry- and vanilla-scented Dr. Pepper, then fold them into a batter spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. With a blanket of vanilla whipped cream in between the two layers, this fluffy cake is bumped up a notch with cream cheese frosting, toasted coconut flakes, and a drizzle of Mexican chocolate ganache. Make it at home.
