With a myriad of cuisines found in massive dining halls and award-winning revues to hole-in-the-wall establishments alike, dining in New York is all about variety. But even with a plethora of options at hand, New Yorkers can get stuck in a rut of ordering the same takeout, time and time again. But the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) x James Beard Foundation’s DineAWAY campaign invites both New Yorkers and visitors to explore a new borough and all the delicious food that comes with it.
Partnering with the MTA, the DineAWAY program showcases tailored, neighborhood guides in all five boroughs that highlight local businesses and independent restaurants only a train, bus, or commuter rail ride away. A handful of amazing chefs around the city are coming along for the journey, sharing their favorite local gems in their respective areas. Neighborhoods and participating chefs include, but are not limited to:
JJ Johnson, FIELDTRIP, Harlem
Beatrice Ajaero, Nneji, Astoria, Queens
Tonya Hopkins, Good Wine, Park Slope, Brooklyn
Nestor Ducan, Rincón Melania, Sunnyside/Long Island City
Hungry for more? Enter the DineAWAY sweepstakes by Tuesday, May 31 for a chance to win exclusive dinners, hotel stays, VIP tickets, and more.
