James Beard Foundation's Taste America® Preview: Charleston


The James Beard Foundation’s Taste America® national epicurean tour continues this weekend with two days of events in Charleston, featuring Taste America All-Star and JBF Award winner Art Smith and Local Star Mike Lata. Friday night kicks off with a tasting reception by some of Charleston's finest chefs, followed by an exclusive four-course dinner prepared by Smith and Lata. On Saturday the action moves to Le Creuset for cooking demos and book signings from Smith, along with free tastings from local vendor the Cocktail Club.

JBF Taste America Miami Recap


This weekend the James Beard Foundation completed the first leg of its annual Taste America tour in Miami. For the third year in a row, the Foundation is traveling to ten cities across the country to host one-of-kind fundraising dinners highlighting local cuisine and headlined by a visiting All-Star chef and a Local Star chef, as well as cooking demos, artisanal tastings, and book signings.

It’s hard to find a more passionate advocate for American cooking than JBF Award winner Michel Nischan. From his own career as a chef to the expansive efforts of his nonprofit Wholesome Wave, Nischan has worked tirelessly to increase access to fresh fruit and vegetables for Americans across the country.
