Join Katie Parla, a Rome-based food and beverage writer, culinary guide, and author, for an intimate conversation with James Beard Award–winning chef Missy Robbins about Parla’s latest book, Rome: A Culinary History, Cookbook, and Field Guide to Flavors that Built a City. Drawing on decades of research, eating, and archival work, Parla takes a deep dive into how Rome has fed itself across the centuries, connecting ancient grain fields, artisan workshops, and everyday home cooking to the dishes still prepared today across the Eternal City.
Guests will enjoy bites straight from the pages of the book while hearing Parla reflect on her research, travels, and the wonderful people behind Rome’s most enduring flavors.
Copies of Rome will be available for purchase with tickets and at the event from our friends at Kitchen Arts & Letters.

Tickets to events held at Platform at Pier 57 by the James Beard Foundation cover the cost of food, education, and a unique dining experience. Meals are prepared by culinary masters from all regions of the United States and around the world. Unless otherwise stated, alcoholic beverages are provided on a complimentary basis and are included in the ticket price. Gratuity, taxes, and fees are included in the ticket price.
