Celebrating the Black History of Food with the Award-Winning Creator of Feed the Malik

Join us for a vibrant brunch inspired by American Soul: The Black History of Food in the United States, the groundbreaking new book by Anela Malik, creator of the influential platform Feed the Malik. Through storytelling, history, and food, American Soul explores how Black Americans have shaped—and continue to shape—the culinary landscape of the United States.

Malik will be joined by two incredible chef collaborators to present a soulful, multi-course brunch featuring Benjamin Shorne of acclaimed Caribbean restaurant Fat Fowl in Brooklyn and a featured chef in the book, and recipe developer Renae Wilson, whose work brings Malik’s stories to the plate.

All reservations are non-refundable and must be made in advance. Should the event be cancelled due to any unforeseen circumstances, JBF will offer a range of options, including ticket exchanges, the option to donate tickets, or a full refund. Tickets to events held at Platform at Pier 57 by the James Beard Foundation cover the cost of food, education and a unique dining experience. Meals are prepared by culinary masters from all regions of the United States and around the world.
