Celebrating Spain’s Table with Chefs Nico López and Ryan Bartlow
Two chefs deeply rooted in Spanish cooking come together for a dinner shaped by the Basque table and Spain’s asadores. Chef Nico López of Txula Steak and chef Ryan Bartlow of Bartolo and Ernesto’s will cook side by side, drawing on years spent immersed in the food of Spain.
At Txula Steak, José Andrés Group’s newest steakhouse, named for the Txuletón, a 60-day aged beef ribeye, chef López celebrates aged beef, Ibérico pork, Spanish lamb, crispy skinned cochinillo, Mediterranean seafood, and vegetables kissed by live fire.
Chef Bartlow approaches Spanish cooking through two distinct expressions: his newest restaurant Bartolo, which looks to Madrid’s and Spain’s classic taverns, and Ernesto’s, where the focus shifts north to Basque cooking and pintxos culture. His technique is informed by years spent cooking and studying in Spain, including time at the celebrated Michelin three-starred Akelarre.
Together, chefs López and Bartlow will build a menu that reflects the depth and generosity of Basque and Spanish cooking—all paired with an outstanding selection of Spanish wines, including the effervescent and iconic Txakoli.
This one-night-only dinner will feature a cocktail reception with passed hors d'oeuvre upon arrival, an expertly crafted multi-course menu with thoughtfully curated wine or beverage pairings, and a Q&A with the featured chefs.

All reservations are non-refundable and must be made in advance. Should the event be cancelled due to any unforeseen circumstances, JBF will offer a range of options, including ticket exchanges, the option to donate tickets, or a full refund. Tickets to events held at Platform at Pier 57 by the James Beard Foundation cover the cost of food, education, and a unique dining experience. Meals are prepared by culinary masters from all regions of the United States and around the world. Unless otherwise stated, alcoholic beverages are provided on a complimentary basis and are included in the ticket price. Gratuity, taxes, and fees are included in the ticket price.
