2026 James Beard Nominee Bringing Seasonal, French-Inspired Elegance
A 2026 James Beard Award nominee® for Best New Restaurant, Merci has quickly become one of Charleston’s most talked-about eateries. Led by husband-wife duo chef Michael and Courtney Zentner, the European-inspired bistro has earned acclaim for the seasonal plates and understated elegance that fill the the cozy, 26-seat restaurant.
Chef Zentner is bringing that same spirit of his intimate concept to New York, sharing Southern hospitality and French-inspired, modern bistro cuisine. Expect refined yet approachable dishes that spotlight exceptional ingredients and the kind of convivial charm that has made Merci a must on everyone’s restaurant hit list.
Joining us is Marika Vida, an award-winning sommelier and wine educator. As the creator of Phenomenal Femmes—a 13-year initiative spotlighting female winemakers—Marika has built a prestigious career at venues like The Ritz-Carlton Central Park. Certified by the Court of Master Sommeliers and featured in The New York Times and Forbes, she is renowned for her expert storytelling and global influence in the wine industry.
This one-night-only dinner will feature a cocktail reception with passed hors d'oeuvre upon arrival, an expertly crafted multi-course menu with thoughtfully curated wine or beverage pairings, and a Q&A with the featured chefs.

Reservation Policy:
All reservations are non-refundable and must be made in advance. Should the event be cancelled due to any unforeseen circumstances, JBF will offer a range of options, including ticket exchanges, the option to donate tickets, or a full refund. Tickets to events held at Platform at Pier 57 by the James Beard Foundation cover the cost of food, education, and a unique dining experience. Meals are prepared by culinary masters from all regions of the United States and around the world.
