When it comes to summertime cocktails, we’re tired of seeing premium spirits and bright complementary flavors bogged down with copious doses of sugar. This happy hour, we’re ready to turn toward the savory side of mixology for some serious refreshment. Let’s start with this recipe from Erik Andersson, which utilizes a pair of unexpected ingredients to round out a delectably complex paprino verde.

A base pour exceptionally floral gin pairs perfectly with the savory elements of this drink: poblano chile liqueur and fresh green bell pepper juice. Lemon juice and a touch of simple syrup balance out the booze before it’s all shaken up, strained over ice, and garnished with some seasonally appropriate cucumber slices. It’s the savory–sweet sipper that’s sure to please every corner of your palate. Get the recipe and make it this weekend.
