It's Easy Eating Green

Colcannon

In honor of St. Patrick's Day and our fervent hope that one day it might actually be spring, we've put together a roundup of recipes featuring some of our favorite verdant ingredients.

Wilted Arugula with Anchovy and Garlic Dressing

A takeoff on traditional Piemontese bagna cauda, this flavorful warm vinaigrette is also good on bitter greens such as escarole, frisée, or dandelions.

Puff Pastry Samosas with Green Peas

To save time, this recipe uses puff pastry dough instead of traditional samosa dough. Serve with green chutney (of course).

Bobby Flay Named Honoree of the James Beard Foundation’s 2014 Chefs & Champagne®

Bobby Flay Named Honoree of the James Beard Foundation's 2014 Chefs & Champagne®

Meanwhile, in non-Beard Award news, we've got ourselves an honoree for this summer's Chefs & Champagne: the James Beard Award–winning chef, restaurateur, cookbook author, and television personality Bobby Flay. The Food Network star will join us for an evening of fine food and flowing Champagne at Wölffer Estate Vineyard in the Hamptons on Saturday, July 26.

A veteran of New York's restaurant scene, Bobby Flay is a highly respected chef and restaurateur, with an empire that extends to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and the Bahamas. He's also a household name, thanks to his starring roles on several Food Network and Cooking Channel programs. The Mediterranean-inspired Gato, his first Manhattan concept in eight years, just had... Ted Allen and Mario Batali to Headline the 2014 James Beard Awards

Ted Allen and Mario Batali to Headline the 2014 James Beard Awards

For this spring's James Beard Awards gala, an evening that already promises a high concentration of culinary star power, we're handing headlining duties to two industry bigwigs. Chopped host and author Ted Allen has signed on to act as master of ceremonies, while chef, television personality, and culinary empire builder Mario Batali will serve as gala chef chair. The two stars will preside over an evening themed "Sounds of the City,” a celebration of the relationship between music and food, and the many ways in which the culinary community is inspired by music and the artists who create it. The motif will extend into our tasting reception, where chefs from some of America’s beloved musical cities will create dishes inspired by their favorite sounds. This year's gala will be held at Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater on Monday, May 5.

This year's Book, Broadcast, and Journalism Awards ceremony will take place at Goth... Read more >
