Ingredients:

  • 1 ounce bourbon
  • 1/4 ounce Ardbeg scotch
  • 1/2 ounce Averna
  • 3 dashes Boker’s Bitters
  • 3 dashes chocolate bitters 
  • 1/4 ounce simple syrup
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 ounces Maudite (or a similar Belgium strong dark ale)

The Hooker

This creamy libation was inspired by blues musician John Lee Hooker's "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer."

Yield: One cocktail

Method:

Combine the bourbon, Ardberg, Averna, bitters, simple syrup, and egg white in a cocktail shake. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled coupe glass. Top with the Maudite and serve.
