Portuguese Heritage, Refined
A professional chef for over 30 years, Guida Ponte frequently finds culinary inspiration in her vibrant Spanish and Portuguese heritage. This spring Guida and co-organizer Phyllis Kaplowitz are bringing fellow members of the Culinary Guild of New England to the Beard House, where they will prepare an elaborate menu that’s rich with Iberian influences. Presented by the Culinary Guild of New England.
Sunday, April 29, 6:00 P.M.
The Ultimate Pairing: A Tasting with Junior Merino
Join the JBF Greens, the James Beard Foundation’s community of foodies under 40, for the ultimate tasting experience! Master mixologist and chef Junior Merino, a.k.a. the Liquid Chef, masterfully fuses his bartending arsenal, his talents in the kitchen, and his experience as a sommelier. For this special dinner at the historic James Beard House, Merino will prepare a nine-course tasting menu that showcases his innovative and exotic approach to food and drink: each dish will be paired with a cocktail or wine, and will also highlight spirits. Don’t miss this unique, delicious, and boozy evening!
Monday, April 30, 7:00 P.M.
New England Spring
Lauded for its impressive array of housemade pâtés and charcuterie, the charming, husband-and-wife- owned Chez Pascal is a favorite among New England bons vivants. Join us at the Beard House for a delectable springtime sampling of chef Matthew Gennuso’s sophisticated yet accessible French-inspired cuisine.
Tuesday, May 1, 10:00 A.M.
Greenhouse Gallery
Artist Shawn Kenney draws on many influences for his paintings, including the Baroque-era works of Velazquez, Mexican folk art, the music of Brian Eno, and more. He received his B.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design and currently lives in the greater Providence area, working as an art director, designer, and illustrator for children’s toy packaging. He has a long-standing passion for all things culinary: when he’s not in his studio, he’s experimenting in the kitchen or poking around his vegetable garden.
Tuesday, May 1, 7:00 P.M.
Aspen Exclusive
After helping to put Southwestern cuisine on the map at New York City’s Arizona 206, Miles Angelo brought his acclaimed cooking to the clear mountain air of Colorado. At the Caribou Club, Aspen’s exclusive private dining establishment, chef Angelo’s vibrant take on the region’s cuisine continues to attract a well-deserved following.
Wednesday, May 2, 7:00 P.M.
Sortun and Solomonov’s Spice-Trail Mezze
Friends and fellow JBF Award winners Michael Solomonov and Ana Sortun share a passion for Middle Eastern cuisine and its arsenal of spices. For this unique Beard House dinner, the duo will highlight these vibrant seasonings in a menu of mezze, the communal small plates of the region.

Salute to Asian Spice
What’s hotter than chef Hooni Kim of NYC’s Michelin-starred Danji and Sang Yoon of L.A.’s impossible-to-get-into Father’s Office and Lukshon? The spicy meal these two deeply talented chefs will cook together, drawing from the most boldly flavored cuisines throughout the Asian diaspora and accompanied by desserts from renowned pastry chef Pichet Ong.
