Join JBF Greens for modern Vietnamese cuisine at HaiSous in Chicago’s vibrant Pilsen neighborhood. 

Executive chef/owner Thai Dang and director of operations/owner Danielle Dang opened HaiSous in 2017. Meaning “two pennies”, the restaurant’s name alludes to chef Thai’s family and his story as the youngest son of immigrant parents. The theme of family runs throughout the restaurant: tables and chairs are made by his relatives in Vietnam, the decorative door, lanterns, and servingware come from Vietnam, and the walls of the restaurant are adorned with photographs of his parents and siblings as refugees in the Philippines. 

For the occasion, chef Thai will create a family-style feast that encapsulates the flavors of Vietnam while paying tribute to the history and cultural richness of Pilsen. 

 

*70% of your ticket price will go directly to the host chef to support their business while 30% will go towards the Foundation’s national programming that is rooted in advocacy, racial equity, sustainability, and women’s leadership for the culinary industry. 

All reservations are non-refundable and must be made in advance. Should the event(s) be cancelled due to any unforeseen circumstances, including COVID-19, The James Beard Foundation will offer options including ticket exchanges, use of tickets for future events, and option to donate tickets.
