JBF Greens San Francisco x Cassava

The James Beard Foundation is thrilled to announce that JBF Greens—events for food lovers under 40—is expanding nationally! This series will highlight delicious food and drink across the country, while showcasing chefs and operators making meaningful change within their communities. For the first-ever Greens San Francisco event, JBF is shining a spotlight on Cassava. 
 
James Beard Award semifinalists Kris Toliao and Yuka Ioroi opened Cassava with the mission to reimagine kitchen culture. Since 2012, Cassava has aimed to create a safe environment for all people behind the plate—front and back of house—by providing a livable wage and medical benefits, and the promise to stand up for their values: no toxic masculinity, misogyny, racism, homophobia, or transphobia.  
 
For the occasion, chef Kris will create a custom three-course menu paired with Sonoma County winery, Bricoleur Vineyards' wines. This evening will not only showcase California’s bounty, but also pose a question to diners: are second-generation immigrant chefs expected to serve the cuisine of their heritage in order to be considered relevant?

_{*70% of your ticket price will go directly to the host chef to support their business while 30% will go towards the Foundation’s national programming that is rooted in advocacy, racial equity, sustainability, and women’s leadership for the culinary industry.}
