Join JBF Greens at our second-ever Los Angeles event with a celebration of authentic Thai flavors at Chao Krung Thai in Fairfax. 
 
Established in 1969, Chao Krung Thai is a cherished legacy in Los Angeles’s Thai Town. The restaurant’s deep culinary roots trace back to chef/co-owner Amanda Maneesilasan and co-owner Katy Noochlaor’s grandmother, who had the honor of cooking for the royal family of Thailand. Born in Bangkok, Thailand, and raised in Los Angeles, chef Amanda and Katy took over operations in 2017, continuing the family legacy of not only their grandmother, but also of their parents who immigrated to the U.S. in the 1970s.   
 
For the occasion, chef Amanda will prepare a vibrant family-style feast that pays homage to her heritage and her grandmother’s life and legacy. 
 

*70% of your ticket price will go directly to the host chef to support their business while 30% will go towards the Foundation’s national programming that is rooted in advocacy, racial equity, sustainability, and women’s leadership for the culinary industry.  

All reservations are non-refundable and must be made in advance. Should the event(s) be cancelled due to any unforeseen circumstances, including COVID-19, The James Beard Foundation will offer options including ticket exchanges, use of tickets for future events, and option to donate tickets.

First Course 

Larb Salmon with Salmon Roe > Grilled Salmon with Lemongrass, Makrut Lime, Herbal Rice Powder, Red Onion, Green Onion, Mint, Cilantro, and Fresh Lime Juice from Chef Amanda’s Home Garden

Second Course 

Pad Thai with Grilled Prawns > Stir-Fried Rice Noodles, Sweet Radish, Red Onion, Baked Tofu, Dried Shrimp, Egg, Chives and Bean Sprouts with Chef Amanda’s Tamarind Sauce and Succulent Grilled Prawns 

Gluten-free; contains alliums, nuts, and shellfish 

 

Third Course 

Mussaman Short Ribs with Jasmine Rice > Braised Bone-in Short Ribs with Housemade Curry Paste, Sweet Potato, and Fried Shallot

Fourth Course 

Khao Mao Tod > Battered and Deep-Fried Coconut–Banana Rolls
