Ooh La l’Amour

​Nearly 20 years ago, Bernard and Sarah Bouissou found love in French cuisine—and with each other—while working at New York City’s legendary Le Cirque. Today the husband-and-wife team indulge their shared passion for French cuisine at their eponymous restaurant and wine bar.

 

Tuesday, March 12, 6:30 P.M.

From Scratch Sessions: Japanese Essentials

Acclaimed chef and cookbook author Tadashi Ono will teach us the finer points of making onigiri, Japan’s adorable rice-based snack food. Sake expert Timothy Sullivan will also be on hand to walk us through sake basics, including its production and various classifications. Participants will taste several samples from Dassai Sake.

Bon Appétit once called Talula’s Table one of the country’s toughest reservations to snag, but food lovers now have more opportunities to experience Aimee Olexy’s inspired seasonal dishes at Talula’s Garden, a joint venture with renowned restaurateur Stephen Starr.

Beard on Books: Alex Hitz

​Television personality and restaurateur Alex Hitz masterfully marries the homespun style of his mother’s Atlanta kitchen with the lessons he learned while working with some of the world’s greatest chefs in his cookbook, My Beverly Hills Kitchen: Classic Southern Cooking with a French Twist, yielding classic comfort food with a refined, elegant touch.

The Latin Road Home

Join JBF Award winner Jose Garces for a celebration of his new book, The Latin Road Home. Like the book, the night’s menu will trace a culinary path through the countries that have inspired the renowned chef’s pan-Latin cuisine, starting in his native Ecuador and on through Peru, Mexico, Cuba, and Spain.

The Beauty of Basilicata

​Nestled between Apulia and Campania in Southern Italy, Basilicata is a mountainous region known for its vibrant food culture. Luigi Diotaiuti, an Italian native and D.C. superstar with a personality to match his bold cooking, has designed a phenomenal menu in homage to the cuisine of this beautiful and beloved area.

The New Jersey Wine & Food Festival

Join us when top chefs and winemakers come together to benefit the James Beard Foundation at the fifth annual New Jersey Wine & Food Festival at Crystal Springs Resort. The weekend-long array of festivities includes a grand tasting featuring 25 restaurants and 30 wineries, a VIP experience and silent auction, a book signing with the JBF Award–winning guest of honor José Andrés, wine and bourbon tastings, a Champagne brunch, and much more.
